Overview

Amazing adventure both in, and outside the mountain

This Alpine adventure begins when you board the funicular in Zermatt and embark on a short ride to Sunnegga. The railway, fully renovated in 2013, leads up a rock tunnel through the mountain’s interior to a sunny, scenic terrace with spectacular views of the Matterhorn. At Sunnegga, exciting activities await in both winter and summer! Sunnegga offers travellers Leisee lake for an outdoor swim, playground for children, and barbecue area. Take time to explore the marmot theme trail with the marmot-watching station just a few minutes’ walk away. In the winter months, skiers of all ages enjoy their first sensations of sliding on snow at Wolli’s park for beginners. From Sunnegga, travel 7 minutes via gondola to Blauherd where a second gondola brings you to Rothorn in just 3.5 min. At the top, discover the mountain’s surroundings as you stroll around and admire the special outdoor exhibition of 18 sculptures, collectively known as the Peak Collection. Each sculpture features written stories and images. Of course, the real highlight of this mountain excursion is the fabulous views of the surrounding mountains, which includes the magnificent Matterhorn.

An Alpine journey offering adventure, fun for all ages, and breathtaking scenery – this is Mount Rothorn!
