Take photos next to the statues set in coves outside the Royal Palace and enjoy the beautiful open space leading to the beautiful Teatro San Carlo. Walk down the nearby hill to the port; it’s one of the largest in the Mediterranean Sea.

This University City has plenty of bookshops and trendy boutique shopping around the Napoli Centrale train station. Head for Via Chiaia for the most original shops, and the Galleria Umberto for the most incredible glass-roofed ceiling you’ll ever see on a shopping arcade.

Eat and Drink

As the city claiming to have invented Margherita pizza, the cheesy dish is a must. With the hot climate iced slush drinks are a popular street treat, and of course pasta dishes are a speciality.

Hidden Gem

Head out of the centre and take a picnic to the botanical gardens of Portici. Here you’ll find the majestic Portici Palace and gardens containing over 1000 species of plants.
